1 WAKE! For the Sun, who scatter'd into flight The Stars before him from the Field of Night, Drives Night along with them from Heav'n, and strikes The Sultan's Turret with a Shaft of Light. 太一醒兮现曙光， 斗群星兮争锋芒， 破天穹兮消夜幕， 燃高塔兮闪辉煌。 2 Before the phantom of False morning died, Methought a Voice within the Tavern cried, "When all the Temple is prepared within, Why nods the drowsy Worshipper outside?" 夜初退兮晨未尽， 门尚闭兮声已闻； “寺庙亮兮堂阶扫， 　何游梦兮可回神？” 3 And, as the Cock crew, those who stood before The Tavern shouted -- "Open then the Door! You know how little while we have to stay, And, once departed, may return no more." 闻鸡鸣兮旅客现， 请启门兮有人言； “片刻留兮苦时短， 　一朝去兮不复还！”

感物伤事，重读《鲁拜集》。忽发奇想，试以楚辞译之，仓促而就。
另作（无韵体）无题诗二首：

襄王得信兮思神女，
宋玉解梦兮赋佳人；
曹公兴发兮举美酒，
远地感叹兮对鲁歌。

苦苦苦，朝思神女，
叹叹叹，暮想佳人；
愁愁愁，夜饮美酒，
感感感，月对鲁歌。
